Hunting to prevent aortic stenosis.

چکیده
The advantages of exercise training in patients with atherosclerotic coronary artery disease are numerous and include the modification of traditional risk factors, improvement in myocardial and peripheral perfusion, enhancement of exercise tolerance, and reduction of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.1 These salutary effects are thought to result from improvements in endothelial function and vascular inflammation. Although the precise mechanisms are not entirely clear, augmentation of nitric oxide bioavailability (by increasing expression and activity of endothelial nitric oxide synthase and reducing nitric oxide degradation), reduction of endothelial adhesiveness (by reducing expression of cellular adhesion molecules), enhancement of endothelial regenerative capacity (by stimulating endothelial progenitor cells), and reduction of vascular inflammation (by reducing proinflammatory cytokines and oxidative stress and increasing antiinflammatory cytokines) by exercise-induced increases in blood flow and shear stress are responsible in large part for the beneficial effects of exercise on the pathogenesis and progression of atherosclerosis.1

During 15 years from 1975 to 1990, thirteen cases of supravalvar aortic stenosis were admitted at the pediatrics department of Shahid Rajai Heart Hospital, Tehran. All patients were subjected to cardiac catheterization and a angiocardiography. Patients ranged in age from 3.5 years to 14 years with a mean of 8.7 years. Seventy seven percent of childen were male. متن کاملBicuspid Aortic Valve: An Unusual Cause of Aneurysm of Left Coronary Sinus of Valsalva
Bicuspid aortic valve is traditionally considered an innocuous congenital anomaly. Due to a better and widespread availability of non-invasive imaging techniques, it has come to the fore that 30% of these cases develop complications, viz., valve abnormality (aortic regurgitation and stenosis), and aneurysm of aortic root and ascending aorta. Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm is an uncommon complicatio...
Background: Balloon valvuloplasty is a relatively new technique for relief of obstruction of aortic valve. The primary results of this procedure are similar to surgical valvotomy with fewer complications and mortality. Materials and methods: One hundred fifty-five patients with congenital aortic stenosis were enrolled in this study over a period of 6 years (1991-1997). Participants were all un...

Abstract Background: Balloon valvuloplasty uses for treatment of aortic stenosis from 20 years ago. Regarding loss of information about results of balloon valvuloplasty of hereditary aortic stenosis, this study was done to determine prognosis and complication of balloon valvuloplasty during last 10 years. Methods: This study was done on existing data of all children with hereditary aortic...
متن کاملLate lumen loss in thoracic aortic end graft after endovascular procedure of a traumatic pseudoaneurysm
We report the case of a 23-year-old woman who died due to endograft stenosis 20 months after thoracic endovascular aortic repair. The patient presented with the pseudocoarctation syndrome. Although angioplasty of stenosis endograft was successfully performed, severe metabolic complications were lethal.
